The Livelink system has managed to remotely connect 10,000 JCB machines across India.

Wipro, one of India’s leading IT companies, has succeeded in Internet of Things (IoT) deployment for construction equipment maker JCB India. Wipro has developed the Livelink IoT solution on the basis of its cloud-based Industrial asset platform.

JCB’s Livelink telematics system has successfully connected more than 10,000 construction equipment items and machines including backhoe loaders, excavators and compact wheel loaders.

The Livelink system, developed by Wipro’s After Markets solution team, enables JCB to control the real-time health and performance of its assets remotely. Thus now it is possible to eliminate misuse and theft of assets and to provide adherence to contracts by asset owners. The stakeholders of the company have already appreciated the system at its real value.

“IoT presents a huge opportunity for industrial manufacturers world-wide and this platform is one of the few live cases. We are privileged to have partnered with JCB India to bring the Livelink initiative to life,” said N. S. Bala, Chief Executive, Manufacturing & Hi-Tech Industry SBU, Wipro Limited.

“Today, we are delighted to have over 10,000 JCB machines across India, running successfully on Wipro’s cloud-based industrial internet platform. This platform provides an ideal base for us to deliver differentiated value to JCB’s end customers,” he added.

JCB is excited about the results of the collaboration. “IoT is an emerging technology domain and one where there are no proven paths for success. Wipro has been a trusted partner through the design and deployment of JCB’s Livelink IoT solution,” said Vipin Sondhi, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, JCB India Limited.

“Through a combination of strong technology expertise and excellent program management capabilities, Wipro has provided end-to-end integrated support to enable this milestone for our customers.”

Wipro is an Indian multinational company with more than 170,000 employees. It provides service in 67 countries. With $35 billion of market capitalization, Wipro is one of India’s largest publicly traded companies and seventh largest IT Services firm in the world. It always remains loyal to its basic values – innovative approach and commitment to sustainability.

JCB India is a leading manufacturer of earthmoving and construction equipment in India. It was founded in 1979 and has remained committed to India over the past 35 years. The company says about innovative technology from Wipro: “We continue to set benchmarks in the field of innovation and technology with the launch of JCB Livelink – an advanced telematics technology which provides Service, Operation and Security updates to customers on real time basis. We are hopeful that some on ground activity will be visible from the Q3 of the current fiscal year. The medium and long-term growth of this sector is assured, however in the immediate short-term, we will have to focus on the basics – of managing our businesses well – with our customer at its heart.”
