Vitalik Buterin recently announced the release of his new “Proof of Stake” book and intends to donate all sales proceeds to fund the web.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has released a new book that chronicles his 10-year journey in making the popular blockchain. Buterin, a Russian-born Canadian programmer and writer, took to Twitter to announce the book titled “Proof of Stake”. On his official page, the Ethereum co-founder and prominent crypto figure, enthused that “Proof of Stake”, the (physical and digital) book compiling various writings I’ve made over the last ~10 years, is finally out!”

Besides physical and digital formats, “Proof of Stake” is also available in a signed digital format as a non-fungible token (NFT). This version was available for purchase at least a month before the newly-released digital and print versions. Following the late September releases, Vitalik Buterin also provided details on how to purchase his new book on Twitter. Furthermore, the Ethereum co-founder also expressed his gratitude to some of the facilitators of his latest memoir.

In addition to covering the making of Ethereum, “Proof of Stake” also showcases extended pertinent writing compilations by Buterin. Furthermore, the book’s title shares the same phrase as Ethereum’s latest underlying operational module. On September 15th, the multifaceted network successfully switched from the more energy-intensive proof-of-work (PoW) module to the ‘greener’ proof-of-stake (PoS) version.

Vitalik Buterin New Book Launches as Scheduled

Buterin’s new book, which also offers insight into decentralized computing, finance, DAOs, and consensus, was first teased at the end of August. At the time, the celebrated Ethereum co-founder committed his share of the proceeds to Gitcoin Grants. This was to support the development of open-source public goods. In late August, a message from the Gitcoin page of “Proof of Stake” also touched on the author and content:

“These writings, collected from his essays before and during the rise of Ethereum, reveal Buterin to be a vivid and imaginative writer, with context from media studies scholar Nathan Schneider.”

In addition, the book’s Gitcoin page stated:

“While many around him were focused on seeing the value of their tokens rise, he was working through the problems and possibilities of crafting an internet-native world.”

In staying true to his earlier pledge, Buterin will donate all the sales proceeds to fund the web.

Future of Ethereum Ecosystem Post-Merge

The release of Buterin’s long-awaited memoir comes on the heels of his latest prediction for the Ethereum ecosystem. According to the savvy programmer, the leading blockchain must figure out its scaling priorities to achieve long-term sustainability. He also said that Ethereum would be better transitioning from a “rapid developing fire fighting mode” to a “stability” one. Buterin sees this transition as inevitable because as the ecosystem grows, the cost of changing things increases.

The price of Ethereum’s native currency Ether (ETH) slid 7% following the launch of Buterin’s book. In all, the prominent altcoin has now given up 21.5% in value since the Merge.
