The latest Marvel NFT auction started on August 29 and runs through Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. (PT).

Digital platform Veve has joined forces with Marvel to release digital variant non-fungible token (NFT) covers from three Marvel comic book artists. According to the announcement, the NFT drops, dubbed the Marvel Artworks collection, will feature both old and current comics.

The collection will also be a limited edition of 1-of-1 releases consisting of three Marvel comic covers featuring Spider-Man, and the Black Panther, and will be available through auction with an opening bid of $1,500.

The latest Marvel NFT auction started on August 29 and runs through Friday, September 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. (PT). Veve also stated that the auction is silent and “all bid values are hidden from auction participants, and the highest bid wins once the auction timer expires.”

All bids are placed via VeVe’s own platform.

The NFTs include artwork from “Miles Morales: Spider-Man #25” by Sara Pichelli, co-creator of the new Spider-Man, Miles Morales, “Black Panther #25” by Brian Stelfreeze, best known for the reboot of the Black Panther series for Marvel Comics, and “Amazing Spider-Man #1” by Skottie Young.

Skottie Young, answering questions about what the auctions are, stated that the works up for bid are not actual physical artworks.

“There is NO PHYSICAL component to this drop. I have seen a few people mention getting the physical original art piece along with this, and that is NOT true. You will be bidding on a digital NFT,” he stated.

Additional reports revealed that Young has already sold the original artwork for this cover through his store, for $7,000. The amount of money these artists will receive from any of these NFT sales is, however, unknown.

Veve and Marvel had already collaborated on NFT projects before the latest announcement. The two companies dropped Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #3 NFT on August 23.

The Secret Wars-centric NFT tokens are distributed in a blind box format, completely readable, and offer five cover rarities.

Veve is leveraging Immutable X’s scaling solution, a company that most recently collaborated with Gamestop‘s NFT platform in February.

In terms of NFT sales this month, Immutable X is currently the third-largest blockchain, and Immutable X-based NFT sales surged by 169% from the previous month.
