Key Notes

  • Space and Time just launched the SXT Testnet.
  • Backed by Microsoft, Space and Time wants to boost smart contract capabilities.
  • Some Chainlink-based projects are already building on Space and Time.

Space and Time Labs, a compute layer for Artificial Intelligence (AI) supported by Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT), has unveiled a testnet for its SXT Chain. Meanwhile, Space and Time recently received $20 million in a Series A funding round to accelerate the network’s product development and engineering.

SXT Chain Goes Live in Testnet: Implication

The SXT Chain, a blockchain built to deliver zero-knowledge (ZK) proof data to smart contracts, is now live on the testnet. According to a press release, the testnet is available for developers seeking to supercharge their apps and smart contracts with a ZK-proven database. Community members can also participate in the testnet by completing SXT quests on Galxe.

With ZK-proven data access, developers can tackle the challenge of securing large-scale data handling in smart contracts. The testnet supports data-intensive applications, such as on-chain credit scoring, through SQL interfaces and ZK verification.

The SXT Chain indexes data from other top blockchains, such as Ethereum, zkSync, other EVMs, and Move chains. This data is stored across a decentralized network of database nodes to enhance the performance of smart contracts. Developers can access, query, ZK-prove, and connect this data back to their smart contract via Proof of SQL, SXT’s sub-second ZK coprocessor for SQL database queries.

Although blockchain technology has progressed over the years, it remains limited by its inability to obtain and process data at scale. For instance, onchain lending protocols, unlike traditional lending platforms, issue the same lending rate to all borrowers. Smart contracts cannot trustlessly access basic onchain data such as a wallet’s loan history.

However, with SXT, a lending protocol can aggregate a wallet’s onchain loan history into a “credit score” using a familiar SQL interface and ZK-prove. Notable projects like the onchain credit scoring protocol Lendvest in the Chainlink BUILD program are already building on SXT.

SXT Integrates With zkSync, Chainlink, and Microsoft

SXT, zkSync, Chainlink, and Microsoft will power the next generation of Decentralized Finance (DeFi). Integrations with Chainlink and zkSync ensure scalability, cost-efficiency, and cross-chain interoperability, accelerating the next wave in the Web3 ecosystem.

Space and Time is leveraging zkSync technology to launch a ZK Chain within the Elastic Chain ecosystem to support the SXT Chain.

The ZK rollup will serve as the SXT Chain’s smart contract execution layer, allowing developers to install Solidity smart contracts on top of SXT. A few months ago, SXT released a sub-second ZK prover, which generates ZK proofs in under a second, allowing rapid, trustless data verification for blockchain applications.

Additionally, SXT will utilize Chainlink’s infrastructure to provide developers with a more familiar means to ZK-verify query results run on the blockchain. This integration will help reduce transaction costs compared to gas-heavy verification on Ethereum.

Furthermore,  Microsoft shared in a blog that Space and Times is working closely with its AI Co-Innovation Lab to accelerate its generative AI tools. This partnership allows developers to build apps onchain seamlessly.
