The NYSE ex-president would work for Uniswap on its regulation in DeFi.

Former President of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Stacey Cunningham, has joined Uniswap Labs as an adviser. Cunningham served as the first female President of the NYSE for nearly four years between 2018 and 2021.  Also, her LinkedIn profile shows that she currently serves as a board member for the stock exchange and has been with the company for nearly a decade.

Uniswap Labs announced the new addition in a Twitter thread on Thursday, stating that the NYSE former President believes in the company’s potential. The team added that Cunningham joined Uniswap due to its “commitment to fairer markets.”

“Uniswap Labs is focused on building revolutionary technology- through ups and downs. Our goal is to enable more transparent and fair markets for all. Stacey’s seen how it’s done in TradeFi – and she’s excited about working with our team toward a better system in DeFi.”

NYSE Ex-President Joins Uniswap Labs

According to CoinDesk, the NYSE ex-president would work for Uniswap on its regulation in DeFi. Cunningham’s experience over the past years makes her fit for the adviser role. She joined the company in December 2012 as the Sales & Relationship Management Vice President. After a year, she became the Head of Sales & Relationship Management for 11 months, becoming President, NYSE Governance Services. She led the Governance Services for 7 months and became the Chief Operating Officer (COO) thereafter.

The onboarding of the NYSE first female president is another move by Uniswap Labs in hiring traditional finance executives. The company employed Hari Sevugan, the former spokesperson for ex-president Barack Obama in October 2021. Sevugan joined Uniswap Labs as its Communications Chief. Additionally, the company welcomed its first Chief Operating Officer (COO), Mary-Catherine Lader. Lader previously worked at BlackRock, where she supervised building sustainable investing tools for the company’s flagship portfolio management tool, Aladdin.

Furthermore, many other crypto companies are also onboarding prominent names from TradFi. Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) appointed a former partner at investment banking company Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) in February. The crypto company employed Roger Bartlett to lead its global financial operations. Similarly, Provenance McKenny joined Citigroup (NYSE: C) in March as its new CEO.

Uniswap Labs is behind the Ethereum-based DeFi platform Uniswap, which is one of the leading decentralized Exchange (DEX) markets. The DEX platform boasts over 43% of the total market share. In late May, Uniswap recorded a new milestone of $1 trillion cumulative trading volume. Noting that it has been “one hell of a ride,” the team announced the achievement and added:

“We couldn’t have reached this milestone without the Uniswap community that continues to build alongside us.”
