All the proceeds from the “Mother of Creation” collection will go for charity donations to The Voices of Children Foundation, The City of Joy, and Black Mama’s Bail Out organizations.

As more celebrities are getting involved in the metaverse, pop legend Madonna has decided to launch her own non-fungible token (NFT) collection. The music icon has been working on the project in collaboration with the digital artist Beeple for a year, and today, it goes live.

Called “Mother of Creation”, the NFT collection from Madonna and Beeple consists of three digitally rendered videos featuring the three distinct motherhood-inspired aspects of life.

Madonna said:

“We set out to create something that is absolutely and utterly connected to the idea of creation and motherhood.”

The first video is “Mother of Nature.” It shows Madonna’s avatar giving birth to a branch that transforms into a full vibrant tree. While leaves and flowers bloom, Madonna reads her new poem.

Further, in the “Mother of Evolution” video, butterflies are coming out of the singer, which symbolizes a “sign of hope.” Madonna’s avatar is located in a post-apocalyptic scene, but butterflies are a sign that there is still evidence of life. In this video, Madonna reads lyrics from her song “Justify My Love.”

Finally, the third video, “Mother of Technology,” shows a beautiful forest, where Madonna’s avatar is “depicting the way science can also give birth light into the world, but only if used with the right consciousness.” As the website explains, “technology continues to evolve in the physical, natural and real-world; we can do whatever we want, but there are consequences to that. Nature will ultimately win in the end.” The work features the poetry of Rumi.

According to the website, all the proceeds from the “Mother of Creation” collection will go for charity donations. In particular, the money will go to The Voices of Children Foundation, The City of Joy, and Black Mama’s Bail Out. The organizations are focused on helping Ukrainian children, female survivors of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as incarcerated black women.

Madonna’s Entrance into the Metaverse

Madonna entered the metaverse in March this year, buying BAYC NFT. According to the NFT platform OpenSea, the singer purchased Bored Ape #4988, a bored-looking ape with a BDSM-inspired black leather cap and a cigarette in the mouth, for as much as 180 ETH, about $560,000 at the time.

Prior to that, Madonna’s engagement with the crypto world was about a partnership with Ripple Labs to raise funds for orphans and vulnerable children in the southeast African country. Back in 2018, Ripple Labs teamed up with Madonna’s charity organization Raising Malawi which was established in 2006 to help orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi overcome the problems and challenges they may face.
