The HTC Desire 22 Pro features a “Viverse” app using which users can buy crypto and NFTs.

The smartphone industry has been slowly warming up to the crypto space in an attempt of offering hardware wallets and other crypto features. On Tuesday, June 28, HTC Corporation launched its first “Viverse” phone which will be fully compatible with its metaverse platform and simultaneously incorporate crypto and NFT functionality. The HTC Desire 22 Pro already comes preloaded with apps that allow users to access and manage their Metaverse content. Using its “Viverse” app, users will be able to buy non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in a digital marketplace as well as create their own virtual space.

The HTC Desire 22 Pro is a 6.6-inch device features a 2414 x 1080 pixel 120Hz display along with Snapdragon 695 chipset, and 8GB of RAM. Besides, it will also serve as the perfect partner for the HTC Vive Flow virtual reality glasses.

Like other HTC “cryptophones”, the Desire 22 Pro also comes along with pre-built crypto wallets for Polygon and Ethereum-based assets. During the announcement, Shen Ye, Global Head of Product at HTC, said:

The smartphone “opens new immersive experiences as the perfect partner for VIVE Flow – whether it’s meeting colleagues in VR, or enjoying your own private cinema anywhere you are”.

Taking the Competition Head-ON

The HTC Desire 22 Pro has been built like a powerful mid-range device. With its stunning functionality, it poses a direct challenge to top tier Android phones as well as iPhone. The handset features a 4,520 mAh fast charging battery along with Qi wireless charging functionality.

The newly-launched phone comes with a very power-packed camera profile. It features a 64-megapixel main camera (f/1.79), a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens (f/2.4), and a 5-megapixel depth-sensing camera (f/2.4), along with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera (f/2.0) for selfies. For video shooting, the handset also support image stabilization, 120fps slow-motion capture, and night mode.

HTC has been an early adopter of the crypto technology. Back in 2018, HTC launched its Exodus 1 phone that features a built-in crypto hardware wallet along with the ability to run a full Bitcoin node. HTC’s chief decentralized officer,” Phil Chen said that “in five years it will be trivial to have a Bitcoin node or other blockchain nodes stored on your phone”.

The HTC Desire 22 Pro is available for pre-order in the U.K for 399 British Pounds. Users can get a 15% discount if they buy the bundle along with a Vive Flow VR headset.
