Thanks to AI technology, its Clyde bot can now answer questions and even have extended conversations with users. Besides, it allows users to start a thread for a group of people. The bot can also recommend playlists, and access GIFs and emojis like any Discord user.

Software solutions company Discord Inc has announced that it is now testing new artificial intelligence (AI) features for its Clyde bot. The Clyde bot, originally launched as a game voice tool, has integrated OpenAI ChatGPT technology that would allow users to have extended conversations with the bot.

Discord stated:

“Next week, Clyde is coming to (artificially intelligent) life, natively within Discord, using OpenAI technology. Clyde can now answer questions and have extended conversations with you and your friends.”

Thanks to AI technology, Clyde can now answer questions and even have extended conversations with users. Besides, it allows users to start a thread for a group of people. The bot can also recommend playlists, and access GIFs and emojis like any Discord user.

Further, Discord is taking its AutoMod (system of multiple content filters designed to make content moderation easier and less work for moderators) to the next level. In particular, now moderators can leverage Automod AI which will use OpenAI technology to find and alert the moderator whenever server rules may have been violated while saving the context of a conversation. According to Discord, since launching last year, AutoMod has automatically blocked more than 45 million unwanted messages from servers before they could be posted based on server rules.

Another update worth mentioning is AI-generated conversation summaries. The feature can provide the sum up of all the messages a user missed while being away from a Discord server. It functions by breaking down the stream of previous chats into topics that a user can choose from and see the friends and messages involved in the discussion.

Further, Discord announced the launch of the Avatar Remix app that allows friends to alter each others’ avatars using the power of generative image models.

Other features Discord has come up with include a whiteboard with an AI preview that has been highly requested as well as an AI incubator that will offer support for developers who want to build AI on Discord.

About Discord

Founded in 2015, Discord positions itself as an online voice, video, and text communication platform designed for creating communities. It started with the mission to solve the problem of communication with friends around the world while playing games online. Since then, Discord has grown from a game voice tool to one of the largest virtual communities overseas. It gives a new way of living in the current virtual world.

With 150 million monthly active users, 19 million active servers per week, and 4 billion minutes of daily server conversation, Discord is now going deeper into AI in order to keep up with the time and stay on top of the game in the conditions of tough tech competition. As Discord CEO Jason Citron has explained, the company is moving towards turning the platform into a place where millions can easily engage with AI together. Therefore, the company is investing in innovation.
