Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com has partnered with Lega Serie A to be the official sponsor of the Coppa Italia Final match featuring Atalanta and Juventus Football Clubs. As noted in the joint statement issued by the two organizations, the competition, which is billed to take place on the 19th of May is the first time Lega Serie A will be signing a partnership with crypto and Non-Fungible Token (NFT) platform.

While the financial details of the partnership were not disclosed, Crypto.com will “commemorate the first time Atalanta and Juventus meet at the Coppa Italia Final,” by launching a “special NFT collection” which will be made available and will feature the official trophy, some of the match highlights, and more. One of the core goals of the partnership is to create a new experience for football enthusiasts but in Italy, and around the world.

“We are proud to collaborate with an exceptional partner such as Lega Serie A, the latest in an exciting roadmap of sports partnerships we’ll soon be announcing,” said Kris Marszalek, co-founder, and CEO of Crypto.com. “It’s a unique opportunity to support the world’s most popular sport during the historic match between Atalanta and Juventus, surely to be watched by football fans world-wide. Through our partnership, we will bring together the best of blockchain technology and football by co-creating NFTs sure to become instant classics and highly coveted collectibles.”

Crypto.com is already making waves with its NFT platform or marketplace, featuring a mix of popsters such as Snoop Dogg, Boy George, and its first official sports team, Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team who launched their first NFTs to commemorate their return to the sport after more than 60 years.

Crypto.com Coppa Italia Sponsorship: a Tool for Lega Serie A’s Global Expansion

Crypto.com has a record 10 million users spread around the world, and Lega Serie A will be using this network to expand its target audience beyond the pitch.

We are the first football league in the world to sign an agreement in this new market which is extremely innovative and relevant not only for sports fans, where other world-class leagues such as the NBA have been operating in recent months,” said Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Lega Serie A. “In this way Lega Serie A aims to expand its target audience and continues the international growth of the brand, always looking to the future and innovation.”

While the enthusiasm between both partners signifies how mutually beneficial the sponsorship is, the integration of NFTs will also have a runoff effect in boosting the involvement of both Atalanta and Juventus in the broader crypto ecosystem.
