Besides Com2uS, Oasys is also home to several game publishers and developers, including Ubisoft and Sega.

Almost two months after hinting at a strategic deal, prominent South Korean game publisher, Com2uS Group has officially entered the Oasys crypto gaming ecosystem. Com2uS launched its own Layer-2 chain called “XPLA Verse” on Oasys, together with a few prominent titles in major franchises.

Com2uS Leverages Oasys’ Japan Presence

Consequently, users of those two major games, “Summoners Wars: Chronicle”, an action RPG based on “Summoners War: Sky Arena” with over 220 million downloads will enjoy fast transactions and no network fees. These benefits will also extend to players of “The Walking Dead: All-Stars” which has 250,000 monthly active users and is based on the popular zombie comic series.

When Com2uS announced the collaboration with Oasys, in February, the duo highlighted that their alliance would enhance the former’s Web 3.0 gaming infrastructure, particularly for its expansion into the Japanese market. As part of the deal, Oasys’ core team agreed to provide technical support to Com2uS and its blockchain subsidiary XPLA to establish the L2 network in compliance with local regulations in Japan.

According to an official announcement, “Com2uS and XPLA aim to leverage Oasys’ deep knowledge of Japan’s regulatory framework to strengthen their market presence and onboard more East Asian users”.

Prior to this new foray into Japan, Com2uS had established its presence in South Korea but with an active plan to push its borders outside the region. The game publisher has put in the effort to accelerate its Web 3.0 strategy including participating as an initial validator in the Oasys ecosystem.

Beyond Oasys, Web 3.0 and Gaming Sector Seeing Huge Growth

Besides Com2uS, Oasys is also home to several game publishers and developers, including Ubisoft and Sega. Ubisoft is currently building its first original blockchain game which it dubbed “Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles,” on the Oasys’ network. As revealed, the game is scheduled for release later this year. Sega’s IP is also resident on the network, while Bandai Namco launched an experimental AI-driven game last year.

One of Oasys’ recent partnerships was with SBINFT Market, a Non-fungible Token (NFT) marketplace under the SBI Group. The partnership is designed to foster the expansion of the Japanese NFT and crypto gaming ecosystem. In January, the prominent blockchain gaming ecosystem also announced a strategic partnership with Pacific Meta to propel blockchain gaming in the Chinese-speaking community.

These multiple strategic partnerships mirror the ongoing expansion in the Web 3.0 and gaming sectors. Many gaming protocols recognize the growing demand and are putting measures to ensure that they grab a slice of the market.

Only a week ago, zkCandy, an emerging Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum purpose-built for the gaming industry, appointed William Croisettier to the role of Chief Growth Officer. William is a crypto native who has 8 years of experience in Web 3.0 across multiple ecosystems including Ethereum, R3 Corda, and Polkadot, 6 years of building businesses in Asia, and 15+ years total with a broad range of experiences at the executive level.
